And there I laid powerless and broken as the world as I knew it came crashing down on me.
I came out swinging - I gave it everything. But every nasty blow only left me more perplexed.
How could the world could be so cruel to a girl who was trying her best?
The life I had built was sinking like the titanic and I had no strength left to fight the treacherous tempest.
There was nothing left to do now but let go as the waves overtook me from all directions.
My wedding, only two months away, was now slipping through my fingers. My dad on the line wanting to fix it all but forced to simply listen. I managed through the tears the terror that was screaming in my chest, “i have no idea how we’re going to get through this.”
But the thread. This last thread I grasp with whatever piece of me I have left. Dear God, you’ll save us.
right?
Isn’t that how it works?
I hope maybe because I have no other option.
Its a blackout. An earthquake. No one knows what the world will look like after today. We only breathe and hope we make it.
I wish I could whisper to that girl watching her world fall apart, If I could just utter a few words to her, I would tell her this.
I know it feels like there is no oxygen in this place, but that is only because everything that has been suffocating you must now suffocate too.
And yes it’s going to get harder but only for a little while.
But then you will breathe. Really breathe . You’ve forgotten what that feels like, haven’t you?
You will learn to live without everything you thought you needed.
Without air.
Because you will explore the depths. Places no one has been before.
And you will lead others who are suffocating to their grave so that they too may truly live.
And every falling star that is now crashing down all around you is only an announcement. A sign that every one of the dreams hidden deep within you is being handed down to you from the Father of heavenly lights.
Shine, dear one. Your light has come.
The heavens have found favor with you
oh and congratulations you have just passed the test,
death no longer bears a threat.
